Why Them and Not Me? The Inspirational Story of the Pregnant Dog and the Elephant

A story is told of how an elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time. Three months down the line the dog gave birth to six puppies.

Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen puppies. The pattern continued.

On the eighteenth month, the dog approached the elephant questioning, _”Are you sure that you are pregnant? We became pregnant on the same date, I have given birth three times to a dozen puppies and they are now grown to become big dogs, yet you are still pregnant. What’s going on?”.

The elephant replied, _”There is something I want you to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant. I only give birth to one in two years.

When my baby hits the ground, the earth will feel it. When my baby crosses the road, human beings stop and watch in admiration, what I carry draws attention. So what I’m carrying is mighty and great.” By Anonymous

The moral of this story is that there is time and place for everything. Every flower blooms at a different pace. There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it’s their time. Don’t lose faith when you see others achieving their success. Uniqueness lies in not comparing oneself to others. Your time is coming!

Take employees and entrepreneurs for example, once an employee gets the job, the rewards (salary) come almost immediately, after 30 days to be exact. A nice car might come after 6months and a nice apartment house might join the list after 1year or so, and a nice wife/husband, nice children, nice holidays, etc might follow as well…

But an entrepreneur and or other creatives can toil/work on their craft for even 3 to 5 years with nothing to show for. But once he/she breaks through, they can become the headline on newspapers and news channels, with people curious to know what’s the secret to their success. Mmmhhh, even friends and Ex’s that left might come back to reintroduced themselves.

Life is design in a way that puppies can be born just after 3months….but birthing an elephant takes time. So, keep holding to your dreams no matter how hard it gets. NEVER GIVE UP! Be patient, persistent, and keep your efforts in the right direction. Say to yourself, “My time is coming, and when it hits the surface of the earth🙌, …when the pain (the struggles, the hurt, the disappoints) has served its purpose….then people shall watch me rise in amazement and admiration!🙌🙌🔥🔥
